VMS Ventures Inc. has the second largest land position in Manitoba's prolific Flin Flon - Snow Lake Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide (VMS) belt. The largest is held by Canada's HudBay Minerals (TSX-V: HBM) with mines and mills in both Flin Flon and Snow Lake. More than 20 VMS deposits, rich in copper-zinc as well as gold and silver, have been discovered in this belt.
To date, it has produced ore worth more than $29 billion. The belt's average 5 million tonne VMS deposit has a gross metal value of over $1 billion.
VMS Ventures Inc will now focus on an aggressive exploration program using VTEM airborne technology and sophisticated Geochemistry methodologies to generate specific drill targets on a schedule planned to begin in the spring of 2007. The infrastructure provided by HudBay's operations in nearby Snow Lake provides a clear economic advantage for discoveries in the region.
Properties
The Snow Lake VMS Project is located within the Flin Flon - Snow Lake Proterozoic Greenstone Belt. With over 20 producing and past producing deposits, it is one of the most prolific geologic belts in the world for volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits.
The South Bay Nickel Project near the mining community of Leaf Rapids, Manitoba, covers approximately 30 square kilometres and is anchored by a 3% nickel surface discovery made in 2004.
The Eden Lake Rare Earth Elements (REE)-Uranium Project has been in the Company since 2001. 90% of the world's REE's are in China and the geopolitical and economic potential of a North American source for REE's is enormous.
